Oxygen Launches Spine - Specific Rehab
Bringing the benefits of yoga, Pilates and other core strengthening exercise techniques to the medical arena, Oxygen Health & Wellness has created the Oxygen Rehab at The Spine Center to help back pain sufferers as well as those recovering from back surgery.

"Many injuries can be prevented entirely when patients incorporate spine-specific exercises into their fitness regimen," says Charles S. Theofilos, MD, a pioneer in ground breaking surgical techniques and cutting edge spine health technology — including the country's very first FDA-approved artificial disc for the treatment of low back pain in cases where conservative treatment has failed.
"When the muscles, ligaments and other supporting structures of the neck and spine are allowed to weaken, failure can occur in the way the vertebrae are aligned. Exercises such as yoga and pilates strengthen those areas and can prevent future injuries."
Located in the 8,000-square-foot Palm Beach Gardens The Spine Center, the state-of-the-art rehabilitation facility features a full range of spine-specific equipment designed exclusively to safety and effectively support and strengthen the spine during its recovery from injury or surgery.
"We worked with top trainers to develop a program and create a facility to help people avoid surgery by strengthening core muscles that are often the culprit behind their ailments, as well as helping post-surgical patients in their recovery," says Oxygen Health & Wellness owner and founder, Kathy Theofilos, who emphasizes injury prevention through a variety of specialized, sports-specific classes and programs for adults and children.
"We will also serve as an off-site step-down facility for all of The Spine Center's post rehab patients, many of whom have already had tremendous success by adding our Pilates and yoga sessions to their exercise regimens."
Back pain affects 12 million people a year, most between the ages of 20 and 60, during their most productive years. It is the leading cause of workers compensation expense, the second leading cause of physician office visits, and the third leading reason for surgical procedures. Economically, low-back pain and/or sciatica is the single largest cause of lost work days in the United States.
